PGY-2 Residents
Heather Howell, Pharm.D.
Dr. Heather Howell received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas at El Paso School of Pharmacy and holds a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Memorial Medical Center and is continuing her training here as the PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Resident. Her clinical interests include trauma, cardiac emergencies, resuscitation, and health policy. Dr. Howell is passionate about advancing the pharmacy profession, advocating for patient care, and actively engaging in professional organizations to promote education, collaboration, and innovation as seen through her involvement nationally with Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS), the Society of Emergency Medicine Pharmacists (SEMP), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and American Society of Health-system Pharmacy (ASHP). Notably, Heather serves nationally as Chair of the ASHP New Practitioners Forum Practice Advancement and Advocacy Advisory Group, Co-coordinator of the ACCP EMED PRN Journal Club Series, and member of the Practice & Advocacy Committee of SEMP.
PGY-1 Residents
Ilana Johnston, Pharm.D.
Dr. Ilana Johnston was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and earned her PharmD from the University of Texas at El Paso School of Pharmacy. From the beginning of her pharmacy career, her goal has been to serve as a strong patient advocate and to navigate the healthcare system in ways that best support her patients. She aspires to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine; however, she is equally excited to see how this residency will help shape and guide her path within the field of pharmacy.
